Robert Eugene “Bob” Siler

Robert Eugene “Bob” Siler, 89, Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at IU Heath Hospital in Frankfort surrounded by his family as they sang him into heaven.  He was born on March 7, 1934, in Columbus, OH to Fred Siler and Myrtle (Watkins) Bauges.  He married Shirley Pursifull-Droke on July 30, 1976, in Lafayette and she survives.

Bob served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1955.  He worked for Ross Gear, TRW in Lafayette for 42 years.  He was a member of the Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene where he served on the church board, was in the choir, and served as an assistant custodian since 1996 to 2008, and a member of the NRA.  He enjoyed gardening, taking vacations, taking videos and pictures while on vacation, reading his books and magazines.  He was the best papaw one could ask for and loved his grandkids well.  He was a loving father and husband and exemplified gentleness, patience and a joyful spirit.

Along with his wife of 47 years, Bob is survived by his children, David (Linda) Siler, Brian (Lori) Siler, Darrell (Peggy) Droke and Tammy (Mark) Allen; 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Scott Siler; brother, Kenny Siler and sisters, Judith South and Phyllis Turner.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 1, 2023, from 10am until the time of the service at 11am at Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene.  Pastor Gordon Smith will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the arrangements.    Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s honor to Frankfort First Church of the Nazarene.   Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
