Robert G. Housley Jr., 73, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at his home. He was born October 27, 1944, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, to Robert G. and Jimmette (Simpson) Housley Sr. On March 31, 1983, he married Valarie Jones who survives; together they shared 35 years.
Robert attended Gavit High School in Hammond before enlisting in the United States Marine Corp; he served for four years during the Vietnam War. He then received his bachelor’s degrees in U.S. and World History from Purdue University. Robert worked as a switchman with the railroad and later was a route salesman. He enjoyed fishing and traveling in his R.V.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Rick) Peterson, of Frankfort, and Ruth (Nate) Willems, of Colorado; brothers, Billy (Linda) Housley, Donnie (Barb) Housley, and Tommy (Martha) Housley; sisters, Barbara (Richard) Eyler and Diane Gamblin; six grandchildren, Johnnie (Dana) Hall, Jacob Peterson, Trevor Peterson, Auston Peterson, Angel Peterson, and Cody Peterson; and two great-grandchildren, Kenadee and Oaklee.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James M. Housley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 10:30 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Keith Hannah will officiate.
