Robert L. “Bob” Ottinger, 90, of Frankfort, Ind., died at 5:28 a.m. August 17, 2020 at Homewood Health Campus, Lebanon, Ind. He was born October 7, 1929 in Scircleville, Ind. to Ralph & Lena (Ramsey) Ottinger. He married Lula Ann Mangis on August 29, 1951 and she survives.
Bob attended school in Scircleville and received his GED with the Army. He was a lifelong Clinton County resident. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served from July 12, 1948 until April 18, 1952. He served in occupied Japan, then entered the Korean Conflict and fought in the Battle at Inchon. Bob worked at Nickle Plate Shops, E & R Manufacturing and retired from Allison’s General Motors in August of 1986. He attended the First Christian Church, and was a lifetime member of the Frankfort Moose. Bob enjoyed bowling, golf, video poker, fishing, and was a country music fan.
He is survived by his Wife: Lula Ann Ottinger of Frankfort, 2 Sons: Mike (Elise) Ottinger and Gary (Becky) Ottinger, Sister: Betty Sedwick, Grandchildren: Matt (Katie) Ottinger, Tanya (Thad) Smith, Nichole Owens and Jeffrey Ottinger, Great Grandchildren: Kayla, Chase & Madelyn Smith and Trent Hanson, Lexia Owens and Susan Folley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Bray, Phyllis Nesbitt, Deloris Flood Keys and Mary Jane Uhl.
Funeral Services:
Visitation will be 12-2 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2020 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Clinton County Cancer Fund, 258 ½ Fourth St., Frankfort, IN 46041.
