Robert L. Wilson, Jr.

Robert L. Wilson, Jr., 76, of Mulberry, formerly of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Clinton House and Rehabilitation. He was born in Fort Jackson, South Carolina on November 3, 1944 to Robert L. and Lois Crowell Wilson. He married Sandra Wilson on July 11, 1964; she survives.

Robert worked for Rea Magnet Wire for 37 years and had previously worked for Rostone. He had attended Mulberry High School then served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Church and the American Legion. Robert enjoyed going to car shows with his 1964 El Camino Super Sport which he called “Only the Lonely”.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by sons, Christopher Wilson of Lafayette, Louisiana and Shane Wilson of Lafayette, Indiana; daughters, Theresa (Dan) Clark of Lebanon and Pennie (Dave) Wright of Lafayette, Indiana; brother, Bill Wilson of Lafayette, Indiana; grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Jannelle, DJ, Kayla, Jerrick, and Olivia; and great grandchildren, Hayden, Riley, Colton, Elizabeth, Michael, Jacob, Aden, Lilly, and Theo.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Scott.

A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7 at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel with a live stream available at www.gendafuneralhome.com for those who would like to join virtually.  Pastor Terry Chase will officiate.  A public graveside service with military honors will follow at noon at Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.

In adherence to the current CDC guidelines, it is requested that guests follow the appropriate social distancing and the wearing of masks.
