Rosemary Q. Rodarmel

Rosemary Rodarmel, 95, of Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at IU Arnett Hospital, Lafayette.

Rosemary was born August 19, 1926, in Carmel, Indiana, to Chester and Edna (Trietsch) Quear.  On November 23, 1947, she married John Rodarmel.

After graduating high school, Rosemary received her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue and Master’s degree plus a High School Guidance certification from Butler.  Her teaching career included PE in West Seattle, Washington, PE and Social Studies for 10 years at Plainfield HS (Indiana), and 13 years as Guidance Counselor at Decatur Central HS (Indiana).

Rosemary retired to Naples, Florida, for 18 years before a final move in 2006 to her Village home at Wesley Manor.

Rosemary was a member of St. Matthew UMC, a member and Past President of Indiana School Counselors Association in Indianapolis, a member and Past President of Purdue Women Association, and was a charter member of Alpha Delta Pi at Purdue.   She enjoyed golf, fishing, family vacations and traveling.  Her excursions included Canada fishing trips; Florida beaches; Elderhostels thoughout the U.S.; extensive cruises to Spain, Italy, France and Greece; travel study in Edinburg, Scotland; and a summer in Bermuda with IU counseling professors.

Surviving Rosemary are her daughters, Linda (Joe, deceased) Hayden of Louisville, Kentucky, and Deborah (John) Hesson of South Carolina; grandchildren, Lori Hayden, Jed (Vian) Hayden, Kassie Leech Gray, Lindsay Leech, and Ashley Leech; and great-grandchildren, Will Leech, JoJo Reynolds, and Gabe Reynolds.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joanne and Lorraine; and one brother, Bob.

Visitation will be Monday, March 7, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until the beginning of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home ~ Frankfort.  Chaplain Deborah Musick will officiate, and burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew UMC or Wesley Manor’s Good Samaritan Fund.  Online condolences may be left at www.gendafuneralhome.com.
