The Rossville Consolidated School District Board of Education has been recognized by the Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA) with the Commendable Award as part of the 2024 Exemplary Governance Awards (EGA) program. This distinction celebrates the board’s unwavering commitment to student success and ongoing professional development.
The EGA program acknowledges school boards across the state that demonstrate exemplary leadership through active participation in ISBA seminars, workshops, conferences, and goal-setting initiatives designed to improve student achievement. Awards are conferred annually across four levels of distinction, with Rossville’s board achieving the Commendable level through their dedication to excellence in school governance.
Joe Hufford, Nathan Root, Nathan McCullough, Julie Mink, and Jentry Pendleton are among the Rossville School Board members receiving this group award.
“On behalf of ISBA, I would like to commend this most exceptional group of school boards and school board members,” said ISBA Executive Director Terry Spradlin. “School boards perform a vital public service for their communities, and board members who actively participate in professional learning are better equipped to govern effectively and meet the needs of students.”
Rossville’s board was formally recognized at ISBA’s Spring Regional Meeting in May, joining 123 other school boards across Indiana in receiving this honor. In addition to board-level recognition, 239 individual board members statewide earned personal EGA awards for their participation and achievement.
“Being recognized by ISBA reinforces the Rossville School Board’s ongoing efforts to create opportunities for our students and staff by engaging in continuous improvement and sound governance,” said Dr. Jim Hanna, Superintendent of Rossville Consolidated School District. “This award reflects the board’s shared vision to prioritize student success and community leadership.”
The ISBA provides comprehensive professional learning opportunities throughout the year to inform board members of the best practices in school governance, legislative affairs, policy development, and education law.
