Rossville Consolidated School District announced its receipt of a $10,800 grant to launch a project to enhance parent engagement in digital learning.
The project is intended to focus on creating accessible and engaging digital content for parents in an attempt to foster positive communication and greater involvement in the district’s technology initiatives across all grade levels from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The district shared the project goals for the utilization of the grant funds to share a consistent, district-wide narrative on digital learning through an online platform to ensure that parents and stakeholders are informed, gather parent feedback through surveys and open-ended responses to strengthen the school and community partnerships, provide teachers with strategies to enhance parent engagement and communication and build parental digital literacy to promote a supportive home learning environment to align with in-school technology practices.
The district set a target for the project to ensure that 95% of kindergarten through 12th grade parents engage with the district’s digital learning content at least once by viewing shared stories or participating in surveys.
The district stated that the initiative was launched in response to a growing community’s need for accessible digital communication, and research showed district officials that 70% of parents rely heavily on feedback from other parents when selecting a school. The District Showcase platform, which will be funded by the grant, is expected to provide parents with a user-friendly interface for accessing updates, stories and community testimonials to help foster and informed and supportive parent community.
The District Showcase platform was implemented on Nov. 1 and will run through Dec. 31, 2025. The platform is intended to offer monthly stories about the district technology initiatives aimed to celebrate achievements and keep parents informed, surveys to capture parent insight and professional development for teachers to build parent engagement and digital communication skills.
The district seeks for the project to strengthen the school-home connection to encourage parents to actively participate in their students’ digital learning experience. Teachers are expected to benefit from additional training aimed to support communication strategies to enable them to build stronger relationships with parents. Parents are expected to have access to new resources to enhance their understanding of their students’ digital tools.
The program is designed to track success, and the district will monitor engagement metrics, such as story views, survey responses and attendance at digital literacy events.
