Rossville Consolidated School District Recognized for Exemplary Governance; Board Member Brent Michael Earns Individual Honor

Rossville Consolidated School District has been recognized by the Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA) as a Commendable School Corporation, an honor that highlights the district’s strong commitment to effective governance and continuous improvement.

The recognition is part of ISBA’s Exemplary Governance Awards (EGA) program, which acknowledges school boards and individual members who demonstrate dedication to professional development, leadership, and student-centered decision-making. To earn the Commendable designation as a board, a majority of board members must achieve Level One status by completing extensive training and development activities focused on governance best practices.

Rossville Consolidated School District was listed among school corporations across Indiana receiving this distinction, reflecting a collective commitment by its Board of Education to ongoing learning and effective leadership.

In addition to the district’s recognition, Rossville board member Brent Michael was honored individually by ISBA for achieving the Commendable level. This distinction is awarded to board members who have earned at least 75 points through participation in training, seminars, and conferences designed to strengthen governance skills and promote student success.

Michael was named among board members statewide who have demonstrated a clear commitment to professional growth and service, reinforcing the district’s culture of strong leadership and accountability.

The ISBA Exemplary Governance Awards are presented annually and serve as a benchmark for school boards striving to enhance their effectiveness. The program emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement, collaboration, and informed decision-making in supporting student achievement.

For Rossville Consolidated School District, the dual recognition underscores both the strength of the board as a whole and the dedication of its individual members to advancing education in the community.
