Dirk Shaw and Jesse Cornell each scored 11 points as Rossville defeated Tri-County 59-43 in boys’ basketball action Friday night. Shaw also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, while Cornell added seven boards. Damon Shaw and Reid Douglas each scored nine points for Rossville, which jumped out to a 21-9 lead after a quarter and increased that to 38-17 at intermission. Dirk Shaw led in steals with five. Douglas led in assists with four, while Damon Shaw and Evan Price each dished out three assists.
Rossville improved to 2-1 with a 54-52 victory over North White on Saturday night.
Other Records
Clinton Prairie improved to 2-1 with a 53-25 triumph over Seeger Saturday night, while Frankfort fell to 1-1 following an 82-52 loss at home to Western. Clinton Central did not place over the weekend and is currently 0-2.
Clinton Prairie Downs Sheridan in Girls’ Basketball
Tynlie Neal led a balanced scoring attack with nine points as Clinton Prairie improved to 6-2 with a 46-27 victory over Sheridan Friday night. Rebekah Lloyd was next with eight and Katie Blacker had six. Neal also added six rebounds and four assists, both team-highs. Prairie jumped out to a 17-3 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
In the JV contest, Clairie Ecenbarger had eight points and Kaitlyn Beck added six as Prairie downed Sheridan 20-7. The game was called after the first half.
Wednesday night in Lafayette, McCutcheon outscored the Lady Gophers 19-6 in the third quarter en route to a 50-39 victory. Lloyd led Prairie with 11 points and Neal added 10. McCutcheon also won the JV matchup 34-33. Ecenbarger led CP with 11 points.
Rossville Defeats Tri-County
Michelle Rodkey led four players in double figures with 20 points as Rossville improved to 4-5 with a 64-41 victory over Tri-County on Saturday.
Sammie Malson added 14 points, while Madison Miller and Emma Lawson each had 12 points. Miller grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds and seven assists. Rodkey also had 10 rebounds.
In the JV contest, Abby Skiles had 19 points, while Marley Roberts and Avery Gorbett each had 10 as Rossville was victorious 52-16.
On Thursday, Rossville was beaten by North White 38-33. Malson led them with eight points and 10 rebounds.Miller added seven points, four assists and three rebounds.
Frankfort Falls to Delphi
Delphi outscored Frankfort 37-9 in the second half for a 56-28 victory Thursday night in Delphi. The game was tied 19-all at halftime. Liz Sandoval led Frankfort, 0-8, with 15 points. Ingrid Valdes added seven.
In the JV game, Frankfort lost 29-22. Carina Alanis and Ari Regalado led FHS with 10 and eight points, respectively.
