The Rossville Hornets defeated the Delphi Oracles in the season opener for both squads last night.
Rossville picked up the win 57-42 behind a 19-point double-double from Allie Elliot.
Both teams had some early-season rust to shake off, as they shot a combined 11/43 from the floor in the first half.
The Hornets jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first and were able to keep the Oracles at bay the rest of the way.
Ava Burkle put up 14 points and 8 rebounds, Autumn Pascal added 8 points and 8 boards and Victoria Vanderwall picked up 7 points and 6 steals in the win for the Hornets.
Rossvill’s next game against Western Boone has been rescheduled due to the Stars volleyball team’s upcoming State Finals appearance so the Hornets will take the floor next at 12:30 on Saturday, Nov. 16 against Fountain Central.
The Oracles will play their home opener against Northwestern on Tuesday with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
