With 20 percent of the student body not in school because of COVID-19 Monday, Rossville schools will be doing e-learning the remainder of this week beginning Tuesday.
Superintendent Dr. Jim Hanna made the announcement Monday morning and added the situation will be reassessed as the week goes on. Hanna also said all activities have been cancelled as well.
The other superintendents at the Community Schools of Frankfort, Clinton Central and Clinton Prairie have no plans to cancel school or change schedules as of now.
“We are still at full force,” said Community Schools of Frankfort Superintendent Joel McKinney. “It’s a challenge but we’ve been able to manage things and keep them stabilized. We had more cases before fall break.”
Clinton Central Superintendent Al Remaly said Monday afternoon there about 80 students and 12 staff that were absent Monday.
“We have some absences, but we’re able to get it covered,” said Remaly.
Interim Clinton Prairie Superintendent Ken Hull said, “The Clinton Prairie School Corporation remains open and we’re striving to stay open. We understand that could change. But, right now, we’re able to remain open.”
There is a possibility that all schools may have to enact different plans later this week when the county will learn if they can remain in the orange category or move to red, which most likely would bring almost all school activities to a halt.
