The Town of Rossville has announced that the Spring Clean-Up Day for town residents is set for Saturday, May 18.
The Rossville Spring Clean-Up Day is set for Saturday, May 18 with curbside cleanup for bulk items, large appliances and additional trash that residents may need to dispose.
The clean up will include large appliances, such as stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, water heaters, water softeners and microwaves. Freezers and refrigerators will be accepted with the compressors removed. Large furniture, such as couches, chairs, tables, mattresses, bed frames, dressers, lamps, end tables and more will be accepted. Any items, such as carpet and padding, must be cut into pieces less than 6-feet-long and tied or bound for pick-up. Bagged trash, paper, cans and small miscellaneous items considered household junk will be disposed of as well.
The crews will not accept loose items thrown at the curb, and all loose items must be bagged, bound or tied for easy handling. Items not contained properly will be left at the curb.
The crews will not accept construction material from a business, building or home, including shingles, wood panels, doors, windows, siding, bricks, cement, concrete, drywall or any form of remodeling material. Rocks, grass, dirt, tree branches, stumps and trunks, leaves, bushes or any form of yard waste will not be accepted. Wet paint, oil, gas, medical waste, whole tires or auto parts, including bumpers, seats, fenders and more, will not be accepted. Messy liquids that may be considered hazardous, burn barrels, ashes, car batteries and electronics, including air conditioners, televisions, computers and their accessories, including stereos and more, will not be accepted.
Tires may be accepted if they are placed at the curb after being cut into four pieces.
Electronics may be disposed of through Oscar Winski in Lafayette, a Best Buy store or an Office Depot store.
The Rossville clean-up is solely for Rossville town residents.
