As summer comes to a close, students in the Rossville Consolidated School District Summer Child Care Program are returning to school with wonderful memories, new friendships, and experiences that will last a lifetime.
The district’s goal was to provide families with a safe, dependable child care program while giving students opportunities to enjoy a variety of engaging activities throughout the summer. That goal was accomplished through a schedule filled with adventure, exploration, and fun.
Students traveled to several popular destinations, including Prophetstown State Park, Fair Oaks Farms, the Indianapolis Zoo, Turkey Run State Park, the Prophetstown Aquatic Center, movies, bowling, and Arni’s Restaurant. The summer concluded with a surprise trip to Monster Mini Golf and Arcade, where students enjoyed miniature golf, arcade games, and one final day of fun before returning to school.
“Our goal was to create a program that parents could trust and students would look forward to every day,” said Superintendent Dr. James Hanna. “We wanted our students to have opportunities to explore new places, build friendships, and create lasting memories throughout the summer.”
The district extends its sincere appreciation to Child Care Director Gretchen Ford and her dedicated staff for the outstanding job they did planning and supervising the program. Their creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment provided students with safe, engaging experiences that made this summer truly special.
“We are grateful to Gretchen and her staff for their hard work and dedication,” Hanna said. “They created opportunities for our students to experience new adventures while building friendships and enjoying an unforgettable summer.”
Throughout the summer, families and community members enjoyed following the students’ adventures and celebrating the many experiences the program provided. As students begin a new school year, they carry with them not only memories of exciting field trips and activities, but also the friendships they developed along the way. Those experiences reflect Rossville Consolidated School District’s commitment to providing opportunities that enrich the lives of its students both inside and outside the classroom.
