Ruth Sowders Coning, 89, passed away April 22, 2022, at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. She was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on June 9, 1932, to Harrison and Edna (Bracken) Sowders. Ruth married George Dragoo and they later divorced, she then married Richard Coning; both precede her in death.
Ruth attended Tipton High School and later received her GED. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, traveling, yard sales, fishing, and shopping at Goodwill and the Salvation Army. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids. Ruth had worked for A&P, Walmart, Delco in Kokomo, and had cleaned many houses over the years. Ruth was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Frankfort.
Ruth is survived by children, Kenny (Sandy) Dragoo and Brenda (Ron) Skiles of Frankfort; grandchildren, Steve (Mindy) Skiles, Jodi (Phil) Commins, Mark (Kara) Price, Michelle (Bobby) Burris, Steve (Kim) Best, and Eric (Selena) Best; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter and son-in-law, Martha (Bill) Price; four brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Frankfort, with Pastor Gordon Smith officiating.
