Sally M. Seatter

Sally M. (McCormick) Seatter, 86, of Frankfort, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.  She was born January 19, 1933, in Hammond, to Dr. Marion Andrews “Zeke” and Mary Luella “Mary Jane” (Hogshire) McCormick.  On December 27, 1955, Sally married James K. “Jim” Seatter in East Chicago; he survives.

Sally graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago and was awarded the American Legion Post 266 Gold Medal for Girls in 1951. In 1955 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Purdue University and married Jim that year.  Jim and Sally lived in Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Wisconsin before finally settling in Acton, MA, in 1968.   Sally worked at The Boyd Appliance Showroom. She especially enjoyed presenting cooking demonstrations at local area Home Shows. Sally was a member of Acton Congregational Church and St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Acton, MA.  2006 brought them to Wesley Manor in Frankfort Indiana where she was reunited with her sister Jain. Sally was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Frankfort; she was involved in many of the church activities throughout the years.  She was also a member of PEO International and Alpha Chi Omega.  Sally was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking; when her children were young, all of the neighborhood kids would come running for her baking. Jim and Sally traveled extensively with many friends on many cruises over the years.

In addition to her husband, Sally is survived by her children, Karin (Tony) Victor, JD (Kim) Seatter, and Michael (Kim) Seatter; grandchildren, Jake Victor, Emily Victor, Ashley Lynn Seatter, James Seatter, Tyler Seatter, David Seatter, Nico Seatter, and Sarah Seatter; brother, Jack McCormick; and sister, Jain Egelhaaf.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Harmony Hall in Wesley Manor from 3:30 p.m. to the start of the celebration of life service at 4:30 p.m.  Rev. Barbara Kinsler will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sally’s name may be made to Heifer International or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with online condolences directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
