Sandra Kay Goodnight, 77, of Mulberry, passed away September 20, 2022, at Wesley Manor Health Care Pavilion, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
She was born December 23, 1944, in Lafayette, to Loyal “Sox” and Mary (Virgin) Troxel. On May 18, 1962, she married Bernie Goodnight at the Mulberry United Methodist Church, and he survives.
Sandra was a caregiver her entire life. She obtained her LPN license from Ivy Tech and dedicated her entire career to nursing, working as a Convalescent Care & Geriatric Nurse Specialist. She was a loving wife for 60 years, and a loving mother and grandmother, supporting the kids through their 4-H and FFA years. She loved animals, was an excellent cook, being fond of both baking and cooking, a lover of John Riggs books, and especially enjoyed her time of sitting with Bernie on their front porch.
Along with her husband, Bernie, Sandra is survived by their son, Mark L. (Tina) Goodnight, and their daughter, Dr. Tracie M. (Ryan) Egger of Delphi; grandson, Clayton Goodnight; and sister, Ruth Smith of Zionsville.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel.
