Sara Jane Heavilon

The Family of Sara Jane (Janie) Combs Heavilon, 83, are sad to announce her passing in Marietta, GA on Friday, April 23, 2021.   Born October 12, 1937 in Lafayette, Indiana, and a proud graduate of Mulberry High School, she married Jerry Heavilon on April 16, 1955.  They spent years changing locations through Indiana and Ohio and settling in Marietta, GA in 1976.

Jane was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 60 years and finished one year of college at Purdue University before she devoted herself to raising her family.  She was an avid bridge player and a reader who embraced technology with a large digital library of books on her kindle.  She loved to crochet baby blankets for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very good at keeping up with all 13 of her grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Beulah (Dieter) Combs and grandchildren, Dustin Heavilon and Kyle Schaefer.   She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jerry Heavilon; her brother, Nelson (Barbara) Combs; brother-in-law, Ned (Sue) Heavilon; sisters-in-law, Melanie Heavilon and Margie Bernal; her children, Jeff (Kelly) Heavilon, Jann (Carl) Grabeman, Jay (Ellen) Heavilon, and Jenny (Tad) Crocker; grandchildren, Sara (Mark) Herber, Michael Heavilon, Scott Heavilon,  Jason Grabeman, Ryan (Jessica)  Grabeman, Shawn (Amanda) Grabeman, Jessica (Jose) Schaefer-Ruiz, Aaron Heavilon, Tim Crocker, Nikko Crocker, and Katie Crocker.   Jane is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service and visitation will be held in Kennesaw, GA on Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 1pm to 4pm at the Embassy Suite Hotel, 620 Chastain Road, Kennesaw, GA.    A memorial visitation is scheduled for Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 2pm to 4pm at the Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel, 204 N Glick Street, Mulberry, Indiana with a graveside service at 4:30pm at Fair Haven Cemetery, 8518 W Co. Road 550 N, Mulberry, Indiana.
