Six Injured in Head-On Crash on State Road 26

Six people were injured in a head-on crash on State Road 26 at County Road 680 West in Clinton County Wednesday morning.

Five of the injured were in a 2000 Honda driven by 25-year-old Allen Lee Patton, Jr. of Kokomo. Also injured was 25-year-old Jan Nelson, who was taken to an Indianapolis hospital via helicopter. Also, three  juvenile children ages 1, 2 and 3 were taken to a Lafayette hospital.

The driver of the second vehicle, 54-year-old Ruth A. Page of Lafayette was taken to a Lafayette hospital.

According to Major Joe Mink of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday they found two vehicles next to a power pole on the south side of the road. One of the vehicles was on its top.

The report added this is an active investigation and deputies are still putting together information. Once the accident report is complete, all information will be sent to the prosecutor for review. Toxicology will also be obtained from both drivers.

Dispatchers said two cars hit head-on. One vehicle was inverted and caught on fire. Dispatchers said there were children in the car.
