Severe Weather Headed for Clinton County Thursday

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Special Weather Statement for Central Indiana, including Clinton County. High winds are possible Thursday with severe storms Thursday afternoon.

A strong low pressure system developing over eastern Colorado this (Wednesday) morning will track northeast into the Great Lakes by Thursday night. Ahead of this storm, strong winds will be possible on Thursday with peak gusts in parts of Central Indiana at 50 mph or possibly higher. The strongest winds are expected during the afternoon and early evening ahead of a frontal boundary.

In addition to the high winds, thunderstorms are expected to develop and move across Central Indiana Thursday afternoon. Severe storms are possible with damaging winds as the primary threat. Storms may also produce a few tornadoes and large hail along with brief heavy rainfall and cloud to ground lightning.

Prepare for difficult driving conditions at times Thursday due to the high winds, especially for high profile vehicles. Now is also a good time to review your safety plan and methods for receiving warnings.
