Shawn Rountree Files for Clinton County Superior Court Judge in 2026 Republican Primary

Committee to Elect Shawn Rountree for Superior Court Judge

Shawn Rountree has officially filed paperwork declaring his candidacy for Clinton County Superior Court Judge in the 2026 Republican Primary Election, scheduled for May 5, 2026. Rountree has been a member of the Republican Party since his first eligible election in 1996.

Rountree brings more than two decades of legal experience to the race. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, graduating with honors in 2000. He went on to graduate with honors from the Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2003, where he was named to the Dean’s List and served as an editor of the law school’s journal. That same year, he was sworn in as an attorney in the State of Indiana. He later obtained law licenses in Illinois in 2004 and Florida in 2008.

With 23 years of experience as an attorney, Rountree is the most experienced candidate seeking the Superior Court Judge position. His legal career has included a wide range of practice areas. He began practicing law in 2003 with the Bamberger firm in Evansville, then one of the largest law firms in Indiana outside of Indianapolis, where he handled complex corporate, municipal, banking, and business litigation.

In 2005, Rountree relocated to Orlando, Florida, where he continued practicing business and corporate litigation while expanding his work to include complex commercial construction cases. In 2008, following the completion of law school by his wife, Alisha Stevenson-Rountree, the couple opened Rountree Law Offices in Orlando. Their practice focused on trial court work, including criminal defense, family law, bankruptcy, and other business-related litigation.

In 2012, Shawn and Alisha Rountree decided to return to their Midwestern roots to raise their family, choosing Frankfort, Indiana, as their home. Since returning, they have raised five children, ranging in age from 2 to 12. Rountree remains active in the community through his children’s activities, involvement in local youth sports, community events, and as a member of Faith Family Church of Frankfort.

Professionally, Rountree has continued practicing law in Clinton County through Rountree Law Offices for the past 13 years. His work has included both private practice and criminal-appointed defense cases, serving residents across the county. He has also served as an attorney for the Tippecanoe County CASA program. His legal experience spans all levels of criminal cases—from murder to traffic offenses—as well as family law matters and other trial-related litigation. Throughout his career, Rountree has conducted numerous jury and bench trials in Clinton County and surrounding jurisdictions.

Rountree has emphasized his awareness of the challenges facing Clinton County, particularly issues related to substance addiction. He believes the judicial system plays a critical role in addressing these challenges by working alongside existing community-based services.

Rountree has stated that he believes all litigants deserve equal treatment under the law, regardless of status. He says his goal is to provide fairness, impartiality, professionalism, and respect to everyone who appears before the court. Drawing from his experience practicing in Florida, Rountree often references a phrase displayed in courtrooms there: “Professionalism demands courtesy.” He says this principle will guide his service on the bench and reflects the approach he would bring to the Clinton County Superior Court.
