Shirley A. Rose, 72, of Lawrenceburg and formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born September 24, 1946, in Shelbyville, to Martin J. and Anna L. (Tindall) Roth; her mother survives in Frankfort. On May 25, 1974, Shirley married Edward Rose at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Frankfort; he survives in Lawrenceburg.
In 1965, Shirley graduated from Frankfort High School, the first class to attend all four years in the new building. She had worked at Federal Mogul and Mallory Controls after high school and babysat many family members and other area children throughout the years. Many of her grandchildren learned to ride their bikes in front of her house on Jefferson Street. Later in life, she worked and retired from Norman Eyecare in Frankfort. Her biggest passion in life was for her family especially her grandkids and her beloved pets, Sammi, Angel, Jazzy, and Bruiser and enjoyed reading.
In addition to her husband and mother, Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Jeff) Copeland, of Idaho, Stacey (Roger) Davis, of Lawrenceburg, and Shannon (Chris) Coomer, of Frankfort; sons, Steve (Janice) Rose, of Milwaukee, WI, David (Brenda) Rose, of Tieton, WA, Dennis (Valerie) Rose, of New Market, Norman Rose, Blackfoot, Idaho, and Doug (Michelle) Rose, of Frankfort; brother, Marty (Patty) Roth, of Lebanon; brothers-in-law, Charles Rose, Rudy (Geraldine) Rose, and Jim (Bertha) Rose, all of Winamac; 22 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren with one more on the way.
Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved father and sister, Mary Belle Harness.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Shan Sheridan will officiate.
