Shirley Tharp Abraham

Shirley Tharp Abraham, 81, of Bardstown, KY, formerly of Kirklin, was welcomed to her heavenly home, Saturday, July 8, 2023, surrounded by her family in Yorktown.  She was born October 1, 1941, in Nady, AK to James and Mattie “Estelle” (Hughes) Tharp.

Shirley was a 1959 graduate of Kirklin High School.  She worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Vincent Hospital on 86th Street in Indianapolis and then was a teacher at Noah’s Ark Pre-School in Zionsville until her retirement in 2015.  She was a simple, practical woman that loved life, babies, her family, and above all, her best friend Jesus.  She was a spiritual woman dedicated to prayer and enjoyed reading her Bible and being deep in God’s word.  She was always glad to introduce you to Jesus through the love that she shared.  Shirley also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and going for drives and seeing the scenery with her family.

Shirley is survived by her children, Robert (Marla) Abraham, Rodney Abraham, Rhonda Daniels, Rolland Abraham, Ralana (David) Abraham-Miller; the father of her children, Roderick Abraham; siblings, J.W. (Shirley) Tharp, Anniece Shelburn, Burl (Pat) Tharp, Carroll Tharp, Martha (Garry) Beecher, Joseph Tharp; sister-in-law, Judy Tharp; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Jeanette Menard, Russell Tharp, Paul Tharp; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Funeral Services will be held 10am, Friday, July 14 at the funeral home.  Pastors Bob Stubbs and Garry Beecher will officiate.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
