Shooting Victim Hospitalized in Indianapolis Hospital

At approximately 2:27 a.m. Friday, troopers were called to the IU Hospital in Frankfort reference a female victim who was allegedly shot on I-65 possibly in Clinton County between the 158 mile marker (MM) and the 162 MM (that is the SR 28/158 exit and four miles north).

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Devin Farmer and Probationary Trooper Thad Decker Jr. has revealed that the victim was brought to the IU Hospital for a gunshot wound to the back by her alleged boyfriend Darius Printup, 20 of Lafayette.

The alleged shooting occurred on the interstate somewhere north of the 158 exit when vehicles described as possibly a black 2010 Chevrolet Impala following a black Honda Civic in which they were riding. Shots were fired from the Impala striking the back of the Honda. One of the bullets allegedly passed through the back of the Honda striking the victim.

The victim has since been taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and is in stable condition. The investigation is continuing. Assisting in the case is Trooper Detective Josh Edwards, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Frankfort Police Department and the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or can identify the cars involved are asked to call the Indiana State Police at 765-567-2125 and ask for Trooper Detective Josh Edwards or First Sergeant Jerry Holeman. You need not give your name.
