Sidney F. “Sid” Newman, 70, passed away early morning on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, surrounded by family at Plainfield Health Care Center. He was born May 23, 1953, in Lebanon, Indiana, to the late Lois (Hand) Newman and Louis Newman.
Brothers, Kenneth Newman of Lebanon, Bill Newman of Dayton, Indiana, Melvin Newman of Lebanon, Rodney Newman of Lebanon, and Eugene Newman, of Lebanon. Married to Nancy Newman on March 22, 1975. Daughters, Catherine Risco of Crawfordsville, Samantha Risco of Wilkinson, Indiana and Starla Haggard of Plainfield, and Angela McGraw of Indianapolis. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Sid worked for Aggregate Equipment in Indianapolis from 1991 to 2001, and Lebanon Industries from 1973 to 1986. He was a 1973 graduate from Lebanon High School.
He was a long-time member of an AA association that little is known about. Sid loved to fish, but never brought any home and he liked to play golf.
Sid attended Northview Christian Life in Carmel and later, Hope Community Church in Brownsburg.
Sid was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Newman; brothers, Rodney K. Newman, and Kenneth W. Newman; sister-in-law, Martha Newman; and granddaughter, Tasha Risco.
Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
In leu of flowers, the family ask that memorials go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
