Southern Clinton County Under Flood Warning Until Mid-Evening

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood Warning for Northern Madison County, Fountain County, Northern Delaware County, Southern Clinton County, Northern Boone County, Northern Hamilton County, Tipton County, Northwestern Vermillion County and Northern Montgomery County until 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

At 1:09 p.m. Tuesday, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain which will cause flooding. Up to two inches of rain has already fallen.

The affected areas are Clinton, Delaware, Fountain and Montgomery counties as well the following locations: Albany, Alexandria, Arcadia, Cicero, Covington, Crawfordsville, Eaton, Elwood, Frankfort, Frankton, Gaston, Lebanon, Muncie, Sheridan, Summitville, Thorntown, Tipton, Veedersburg and Waynetown.

Motorists are advised to turn around and don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Flooding has already closed a county road according to the Clinton County Highway Department. who advised that County Road 800 North between County Road 100 East and County Road 200 East is closed as is County Road 0 East/West between State Road 26 and County Road 800 North.
