State Health Says 1,019 More Hoosiers Have COVID-19

The Indiana Department of Health announced Wednesday that 1,019 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 658,043 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

A total of 12,039 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 14 from the previous day. Another 428 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

To date, 3,093,689 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,088,729 on Tuesday. A total of 7,856,992 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Hoosiers age 60 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders who are regularly called to the scene of an emergency to render medical assistance, are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. As of today, 920,930 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, and 482,564 are fully vaccinated.

The Indiana Department of Health will host 10 vaccine clinics for eligible Hoosiers around the state from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday this week. Individuals must register in advance at https://ourshot.in.gov. No walk-ups will be allowed, and the clinics are open only to Indiana residents. Proof of eligibility will be required at the clinic.
