State Police and IMPD Searching for Armed Suspect in Indy

Officers from the Indiana State Police and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are conducting a manhunt near I-465 and Mann Road.

The incident began around 1:15 this afternoon when Troopers were investigating a single vehicle crash on I-465 near Mann Road. The driver of the vehicle, which was stolen, had fled from the scene on foot prior to police arriving. While a Trooper was investigating the crash multiple shots were fired from a wooded area about 50 feet from the Trooper. The suspect then fled on foot from the area. A perimeter was set and police are currently searching the northeast corner of Mann Road and I-465. Police K-9s and a helicopter are assisting with the search, residents in the area are asked to stay indoors and report suspicious activity.

The person of interest in this case is 26 year old Ronald Carson of Indianapolis, he is 6′-2″ and 170 pounds, he also has several tattoos on his face. He is considered armed and dangerous. Officers believe he could have suffered significant injuries from the crash and could be bleeding.
