Tomorrow, May 1, 2025 from 10am-10:30am, District 41 State Representative Mark Genda and District 25 State Representative Becky Cash will visit the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home (James E. Davis School Gymnasium Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home 515 W Camp St, Lebanon, IN 46052) with an official resolution in hand. For National School Principals’ Day, the elected officials will present a resolution recognizing Jim Stuart, retiring principal of the Children’s Home’s James E. Davis School.
Stuart, who began his career at the Children’s Home as an English teacher 40 years ago, will retire at the end of this school year. On Thursday morning, Genda and Cash will join students and faculty as they celebrate our beloved principal at a reception in the school gymnasium.
The school is accredited by the Indiana Department of Education for grades 8–12. In 2024, the school celebrated 13 students during commencement ceremonies, and 14 are expected to graduate this year. This is a huge accomplishment for these students, many of whom are the first in their families to graduate from high school.
National School Principals’ Day has been celebrated annually on May 1 since the year 2000, and encourages all to recognize principals who have: visionary leadership, effective communication, strong management skills, and who are supportive of teachers, student-focused, collaborative, and innovative.
The Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home was founded in 1915 in Greencastle, Indiana, moved to Lebanon, Indiana in 1924, and is now celebrating its 100th anniversary in Lebanon. The Home is a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) for teens ages 14-19. Students are placed in our care by the Indiana Department of Child Services or courts throughout Indiana.
