An Indiana State Trooper escaped serious injury following a crash on northbound I-465 near the Crawfordsville Road exit at 9:20 a.m. this morning.
Just prior to the crash, Master Trooper Brian Snyder was waiting for a tow truck to impound a vehicle he had stopped earlier. Snyder was parked behind the vehicle on the right shoulder with his emergency lights activated when the driver of a silver 2009 Ford Focus struck the rear quarter of Snyder’s police car. The car was being driven by Armond Bishop, age 23, of Indianapolis.
Witness accounts of the crash stated that Bishop had been weaving within his lane for the last few miles. Preliminary investigation conducted by Senior Trooper Luke Berrier revealed that Bishop had been driving in the right lane moments before he purportedly fell asleep at the wheel crashing into the back of Snyder’s car.
Snyder was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Snyder is a 20 year veteran of the Indiana State Police and works out of the Indianapolis Post. Bishop was uninjured in the crash.
