Stepping On Stigma 5K Races Off One Month From Today On May 10

Healthy Communities of Clinton County issued a reminder of the United Way for Clinton County Stepping on Stigma 5K Run/Walk that is set for one month from today on May 10 with registration currently open.

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, the annual 5K run and walk raises awareness for mental health in the community, spanning seven years of fighting the stigma surrounding mental health.

“It is open to anyone who wants to end the silence surrounding mental health and spread the word that it’s okay not to be okay,” Healthy Communities Stepping on Stigma Coordinator Tammy Koger said.

The organization stated that regular physical activity, such as walking, swimming, running or jogging, helps to boost heart health and overall well-being, and the organization further encouraged community members to partake in heart health boosting activities while supporting a cause by joining the Stepping On Stigma 5K.

The 5K this year will be held on Saturday, May 10 at Prairie Creek Park in Frankfort. Registration is $5, and registration may be completed here. T-shirts are available for purchase during registration.

All donations and profits made during the event will be donated to the Buck Up Foundation and other mental health organizations to give back to mental health awareness.
