Steven “Shagg” Matthew Brewer, 59, Frankfort, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 2, 1963, in Frankfort to Robert and Barbara (Stowers) Brewer. He married Melissa “Missie” Eads on August 29, 2008, and she survives.
Steve attended Clinton Prairie High School. He worked for Federal Mogul and Tenneco for 38 years until his retirement in 2022. He attended The Vine Community Church in Kokomo where he loved worshipping and deepening his relationship with God. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, fishing, camping, working on model airplanes, riding ATV’s and boating, and listening to classic rock music, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd “Free Bird.” Steve would brighten a room when he walked in with his fun-loving attitude and his comfortable personality. He was a dependable man that was always there for those that needed him. He loved his dog, but more than that he loved his family, and loved making memories with them.
Along with his wife of 15 years, Steve is survived by his children, Matt (Mary) Brewer and Patti (Nathan) Brewer; stepchildren, Kaleb (Amber) McKee, Stephani Mathis, Patrick McKee; sisters, Robin (Jeffrey) Beumel, Penny (Greg) Boots, Sandra (Frank) Waible; grandchildren 17; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held, 2-5pm, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at The Vine Community Church, 2419 N. Armstrong St., Kokomo, IN 46901. Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort is assisting with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Steve’s honor to the Clinton County Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
