Stream Monitors Sought for Deer Creek-Sugar Creek Project

Do you know what lives in your water or how your local streams’ water quality compares to others in the area? Join the Deer Creek-Sugar Creek Project and the Carroll County SWCD as a Hoosier Riverwatch volunteer stream monitor. “The best way to know and understand the quality of our streams is to spend time in them. Collect chemistry samples, dip a net in and see what types of insect larva and bugs are present. It’s a great way to connect with your local stream,” says Sara Peel, project coordinator.

Training starts at 5:30 p.m. on August 28 and 30 at the Gerber Globe-Valve Room at the Delphi Public Library 222 E. Main Street, Delphi, Indiana. The evening sessions will include a review of parameters inside, with a portion of the training spent out trying out equipment in Deer Creek. RSVP is requested to Rhonda Hicks at [email protected] or (765) 564-4480 ext 3.
