Successful Crossing School Family Night

Students, parents, faculty, administration, volunteers and community came together Tuesday evening to celebrate with students enrolled in the “Crossing School of Business and Entrepreneurship”  in Clinton County.  Shoups Catering donated a beef and noodle dinner to 92 attendees at the event.

Healthy Communities, Pregnancy Resource Center, a free clothes station, free book station and a candle/crossing t-shirt fundraising station were available to attendees and these stations were spread throughout the school for spacing.

Each of the 83 Crossing students was given a gift pack including a Crossing School sweatshirt or sweat pants.  Director Marissa Mills and 6 teachers are dedicated to fulfill the mission of The Crossing School:  “To empower struggling students to become contributing members of their communities through academics accredited in the state of Indiana, job training in real-world environments and faith-based character education focused on core values.”

“Since 2003, The Crossing has been giving struggling high school students a second chance at an education”. The Crossing started with a group of public school administrators passionate about making a difference in the lives of teens looking for a new start.

The 14 to 1 teacher-to-student ratio at the Crossing School in Frankfort allows more one-on-one time with each student.

This year 15 to 17 students are projected to graduate from the Crossing in December.

Crossing school board President, Susan Kaspar said the event was “A huge success—what a great display of love and community coming together for a great cause.”
