Sue Carolyn Huckstep, 89, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at Riverview Health in Noblesville, Indiana. She was born in Lebanon, Indiana on November 6, 1934, the only child of the late Harold Nelson Wells and Phyllis Juanita (Henderson) Wells.
Sue was a 1952 graduate of Lebanon High School and pursued nurse training at Indiana University completing in 1953. She later graduated from Chapel Hill College in North Carolina as a certified dental assistant.
On March 6, 1954, she was married to Richard Huckstep at Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon; he survives.
She worked several years at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon before taking time away from the workforce to raise her two sons. When they started middle school, Sue spent 20 years employed at dental offices in Fowler, Indianapolis, and Carmel before retiring in 1992.
Sue was a faithful member of CrossRoads Church at Westfield. Sue’s passion for quilting, reading, solving crosswords, painting, and coloring books brought great joy to her life. She was also a devoted student and teacher of the Bible for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Huckstep of Noblesville; sons, Tom (Dana) Huckstep of Noblesville, and Don (Cathy) Huckstep of West Lafayette; grandsons, Colin Huckstep, Matt Huckstep, and Chad Huckstep; and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, at CrossRoads Church at Westfield, 19201 Grassy Branch Rd, Westfield, IN 46074, with visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am, followed by lunch at the church. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory has been entrusted with her arrangements.
