Sue Ellen Bryan Conley passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was born in Mulberry, Indiana, on March 23, 1943, to Russell J. and Josephine (Rothenberger) Bryan. Sue graduated from Mulberry High School in 1961. She then studied math at Purdue University, where she met and married Ralph R. Conley in 1963.
She is survived by the lights of her life: her children and her grandchildren. Russ (Magda) Conley and their children, Miranda and Rusty; Beth (Jim) and her children, Amy and Nicholas. Her sister Jane also survives. Ralph preceded her in death on December 31, 2004.
Sue lived in the suburbs of St. Louis, MO, for over sixty years, but Mulberry was her home. She grew up on a farm with her sister Jane in this wonderful small town. Her parents were schoolteachers and managed their farm. Sue was involved in many organizations and groups, including 4H and Rainbow Girls.
Sue was a woman of many passions. A lifetime lover of music, she played the saxophone in the marching band and excelled at the piano and choir. She was an avid genealogist, a sports enthusiast (Boiler Up!), and a seasoned traveler. She had a green thumb and loved gardening, and her homemade candy at Christmas was a family tradition. She enjoyed playing cards and cherished the memories she made with loved ones. She was a master of all kinds of crafts including sewing, knitting, and crochet. She volunteered her talents by creating hundreds of tiny blankets and hats for premature babies, a testament to her kind heart.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 837 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, MO 63376, on June 19, 2024, from 6 to 9 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at 10am, Saturday, June 22, 2023, at Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry, IN. Day & Genda Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements in Indiana.
