Susan L. “Sue” Birge, 62, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at her home in Jamestown, Indiana. She was born on May 21, 1962, in Indianapolis, a daughter of Donald W. Deckard and the late Nancy E. (Dixon) Deckard.
Sue grew up in Whitestown and was involved in 4-H completing projects in leather craft and macramé. She loved riding horses and swimming with her friends there. Sue graduated from Lebanon High School in 1981, then married her high school sweetheart Tod J. Birge on June 12, 1982, in Lebanon, and they shared 42 loving years together; he survives.
Sue worked several office jobs before ending up an office manager at the Boone County Health Department where she worked for 17 years before retiring earlier this year.
Sue attended Whitestown United Methodist Church. She cherished spending time outdoors with her husband, sunbathing by the pool and creating memories with her grandchildren. She was a great storyteller, and head of office-antics at the health dept. Sue dearly loved her “work” family. Most importantly, she loved her three girls unconditionally. She also supported and participated in the Relay for Life in Boone and Hendricks counties.
Survivors include her husband, Tod J. Birge of Jamestown; children, Ashley M. (companion, Donald “Butch” Glass) Birge of Crawfordsville, Korey N. Birge of Danville, and Lacey R. (Keaton) Foster of Fowler; grandchildren, Easton and Sloane Foster; sister, Lori C. (Roger) Fairfield of Fruita, Colorado; nephews, Blake Fairfield, Drew (Jenna) Fairfield, and Ryan Fairfield of Grand Junction Colorado; and great niece, Reagan Fairfield of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Memorial Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Sue’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
