Susan L. Northern, 67, a life-long Frankfort resident, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born February 21, 1951, in Frankfort, to William E. and Mary H. (Leslie) Chandler. Susan was previously married to Larry Brittian Sr. On August 16, 1985, she married Jackie H. Northern; he preceded her in death on May 1, 2004.
She had attended Frankfort Senior High School. Susan had worked at Clinton House for 10 years before starting in the dietary department at Wesley Manor for several years. She was a Red Cross volunteer as well. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, slot machines, and reading.
Surviving Susan are her children, Mary (Josh Bartley) Williams and Larry (Mary) Brittian Jr., both of Frankfort; step children, Jerry (Pam) Northern and Sara Jane, both of Connersville, Randy Northern of Kokomo, and Jack Northern, of Indianapolis; brother, Charles (Wilma) Chandler of Kilmore; sisters, Naomi Large, Carol (Bob) Bower, and Esther Roberts, all of Frankfort, Sharon (Ed) Spray, of Michigantown, and Kathy (Jerry) Wise, of Colfax; sister-in-law, Connie Chandler of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, and 6 & 3/4 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Susan is preceded in death by her parents, step daughter, Patricia Crouch; brother, Bill Chandler; sisters, Nancy Spaulding and Mary Alice Chandler; and brother-in-laws, Paul Large and Ray Roberts.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 4-8pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will be 1pm, Wednesday, November 28 at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Spaulding will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
