Suspect Arrested After Crashing Stolen Truck

Clifton James Martin, 37 from Indianapolis, was arrested for Auto Theft, Residential Entry, Habitual Traffic Violator, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Public Intoxication, and Operating while Intoxicated.
On February 11, at approximately 10:58 a.m., Lebanon Police Lieutenant Ben Phelps was flagged down in Memorial Park by employees of the City of Lebanon Parks Department. The employees wished to report that someone had just stolen their work truck, which was a 2019 Ford F250 that was registered to the Lebanon Parks Department.
At approximately 11:06 a.m., the Boone County Communications Center began receiving calls of a motor vehicle collision in the 1900 Block of Elizaville Road, Lebanon. The vehicle involved in the crash matched the description of the truck stolen from Memorial Park. The truck has struck a residence and tree, causing minor damage to the residence. Witnesses described the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle as a Black Male that was last seen running toward East Drive in Ulen.
At approximately 11:09 a.m., the Boone County Communications Center received a call from a homeowner in the 200 Block of East Drive reporting that a Black Male had forced his way into the residence and was currently inside. Officers with the Lebanon Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s Office took the suspect into custody inside the residence without incident.
During the search for Martin, the Lebanon Community Schools were placed on a lock down for approximately 20 minutes as a precaution. There were no injuries resulting from this incident.
