On April 18, just before 11 p.m., deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office reportedly took a complaint from an individual in Rossville that someone had allegedly been identified searching through the caller’s vehicle.
Throughout Friday evening and into Saturday morning, Dispatch reportedly continued to receive complaints of vehicle break-ins and thefts from vehicles in the Rossville area. The department’s on-call investigator was notified and responded to assist, the department released.
After taking statements and collecting evidence, deputies arrested Houston Barnhart, 28, of Rossville for theft, a Level 6 Felony, and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, a B misdemeanor. Barnhart is being held on a $750 cash bond.
Once the information was shared on social media, the department stated that 25 victims have been documented. The department stated that recovered property has begun to be returned to owners if possible.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
