Suspect Charged in Crawfordsville Police Shooting

The suspect that was shot in the Crawfordsville police action shooting is Lucas Anderson, 36 of 319 South Walnut Street, Crawfordsville. He was treated at Franciscan Hospital with a gunshot wound to the face. He has been released from the hospital and is incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail on:

  • One count of Domestic Battery Level 6 Felony
  • Two counts of Strangulation Level 6 Felony

Additional charges may be pending. The investigation is continuing.

The officer involved in the shooting name will be released by the Crawfordsville Police Department. No further will be released at this time. The original release is below.

The Crawfordsville Police Department requested the Indiana State Police out of the Lafayette Post to investigate a police action shooting involving a Crawfordsville officer.

Today at approximately 12:47 a.m. the Crawfordsville Police Department was called to 319 South Walnut Street reference a domestic/suicidal situation. Shortly after arrival of the officers, the suspect was confronted and reportedly pointed a handgun at the officers and in self-defense, one of the officers fired at the suspect hitting the suspect at least once. The suspect was transported to Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville with non-life threatening injuries. No officers or anyone else was injured in the incident.

The investigation is continuing. No further information will be provided at this time. The Indiana State Police are investigating the police action shooting and Crawfordsville Police Department are investigating the domestic situation.
