Tameka Nicole Luckett, 45, of West Lafayette, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024. She was born in Gary to Anthony Armstead and Kimberly (Richmond) Campbell on July 4, 1978. She met Dexter “Turtle” Luckett on July 14, 2018, and they married December 4, 2018. He survives.
Tameka was a genuine, uplifting woman that didn’t let things keep her down. She worked as a house cleaner and enjoyed playing Spades, listening to music, especially the kind you could slow dance too. She was known for her amazing cooking. Family and friends always had a list or requests for her many pies and fried chicken. But her greatest passion and accomplishment was being a mother. She loved being a mother to her children and grandchildren and mothering her siblings. Her love for family was deep and wide.
Along with her husband and father, Tameka is survived by her children, Julius Armstead, Cordaro Armstead, Gabrielle Knight, Anthony Knight, Nijah Knight, Janyiah Knight and Azia Knight; siblings, Anthony “Lanear” Williams, Richard (Sara) Bagsby, Aaron (Kelly) Bagsby, William Campbell and Teana “Tete” Armstead; grandchildren, Makiya Sharae Armstead, Journei Quinn Armstead, Cordaro Armstead, Jr., Xa’drian Armstead, Xuri Michelle Armstead, and Zamayvion Armstead; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandmothers, Phyllis Miller and Jacqueline “Mimi” Sexton.
Visitation will be held, Friday, April 19, 2024, from 4-8pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20 at 11am at the Funeral Home. Pastor Cordell Kenner will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow View Cemetery in Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
