Teddy L. Rigdon, 81, of Lafayette, passed away January 21, 2026 at his home. He was born March 10, 1944 in Anderson, IN to Pellie & Thelma (Merrill) Rigdon. He married Joyce Shelley in September 1966 and she preceded him in death in 2001. He then married Rose Pettit-Habbinga on June 15, 2002 and she survives.
Ted attended Rossville School and later received his GED. He grew up in Clinton County and moved to Lafayette in 2002. Ted worked as a press operator for Rostone in Lafayette for 35 years, retiring in 2002. He attended the Faith Baptist Church in Frankfort. He was a member of the Navy Club and SAL Post 11. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing, old westerns, and was a NASCAR fan. He played in The Country One Band and they enjoyed playing George Jones songs. Ted’s favorite saying to the waitresses when asked if there was anything else, “I’ll take a stack of 100-dollar bills”.
Ted is survived by his wife, Rose of Lafayette, daughter, Kelli (Rob) Surber of Michigantown, son, Stacy Rigdon of Michigan City, daughters-in-law, Cheryl Habbinga of Lafayette, Ruth (Jamie) Alford, step-daughter, Kristin (Bill) Holmes of Monticello, step-son, Brian Habbinga of Lafayette, sisters, Brenda (Mark) Timmons of Frankfort, Sue Sill of Lafayette, Debbie (Chuck) Landford of Lafayette, grandchildren, Cody (Kiersten) Howe of Michigantown, Ian (Brandi) Lowery of Frankfort, Brad Habbinga of Fishers, Jeremey (Sam) Habbinga of Lafayette, Adam (Amy) Quirk of Fowler, Ashley (Jeff) Boone of Mulberry, Bret Habbinga of Florida, Alissa Habbinga of Lafayette, Jake Habbinga of Lafayette, and 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 dogs, Bailey & Bear.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Joyce, brothers, Mickey Rigdon, Donnie Pettit, sister Linda Tatman and step-son, Max Habbinga.
