Teen Center at Boys and Girls Club Looking for New Members

Jake Peter works on the mural at The Club Teen Center, which is located at the Clinton County Boys and Girls Club.

One of the newest features of the Clinton County Boys and Girls Club is also getting a new touch added to it. The Club Teen Center, which is located inside the Boys and Girls Club, also got a face lift this past week when Jake Peter put the finishing touches on a mural on one of the walls.

The Club Teen Center is free to those children of Center Township in grades six through 12 through funding provided by the Center Township Trustee’s office.

“This is a good place for the kids to come and hang out,” said Teen Center Director Randi Chambers. “We’re getting our feet wet and trying to get kids in the door.”

Chambers said the club has taken kids to the pumpkin patch in Rossville and to the swimming pool in Lafayette. They are also planning to go see an Indiana Pacers game in April.

“We are trying to give them some kind of experience that they may not get elsewhere,” said Chambers. “We also would like to incorporate some life lessons.”

Chambers said the club is open sporadically. However, times and information about the club are available at the Frankfort Middle School, Frankfort High School and the Teen Center’s Facebook page. Chambers added information is always available at the Boys and Girls Club.

Chambers was asked how had the club been received so far.

“Pretty good,” she said. “We have some kids that are here everyday…everyday that we’re open. Recently, we’ve gotten some newer kids. I provide dinner every night. They can hang out in this room. We have two TVs, they have video game systems and they have access to the whole club.”

The Boys and Girls Club is located at 1100 W. Green St. in Frankfort. For more information, call the club at 765-659-2582.
