On behalf of the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, the Indiana State Police is releasing the following information regarding the sentencing of Tara Pickett, 36, following a lengthy financial crimes investigation.
On May 13, 2025, Pickett was sentenced to 23 years—21 years to be served in the Indiana Department of Correction and 2 years on supervised probation—after pleading guilty to multiple felony charges. These included several counts of Theft, two counts of Identity Deception, and one count each of Money Laundering and Corrupt Business Influence.
The investigation began in April 2024, when Indiana State Police detectives initiated a detailed review of financial, phone, and computer records. The investigation revealed that Pickett had stolen from her employer over the course of approximately five years while serving as the business’s bookkeeper.
As part of her plea agreement, Pickett agreed to pay $500,000 in restitution to the business owner, along with restitution to an additional victim. She is also prohibited from working or volunteering in any role that involves handling money or personal financial information.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office and the Indiana State Police remain committed to holding individuals accountable for financial crimes and protecting the integrity of Indiana’s businesses.
