Three-Car Crash Claims Life of Waveland Teen

Just before 8:45 p.m. Monday, the Indiana State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on SR 47 near CR 700S. Three vehicles and five people were involved in the crash, four of which were transported to a local hospital with injuries, where one was later pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Chandler Stanton revealed that a Dodge Ram 1500, driven by Keith Brock, 69 of Waveland, with one passenger, was traveling south on SR 47 approaching the intersection of CR 700S. Near the intersection of CR 700S were two vehicles on the right shoulder of the southbound lane, one of which was disabled. For an unknown reason, Brock’s Dodge Ram struck both vehicles that were parked on the shoulder. There were three people associated with the two vehicles on the shoulder. Blake High, 29 of Waveland, and Donald Peters, 39 of Crawfordsville, were both struck while standing outside of the vehicles. They were transported by EMS to Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville. A third person was seated in the disabled vehicle, but was not injured. Brock was transported by EMS to Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville, and later flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by IU Health Lifeline. The passenger of the Dodge Ram, Andrew Thompson, 14 of Waveland, was transported to Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Members of the ISP Crash Investigation and Reconstruction Team were requested at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation. State Road 47 was closed approximately three hours for investigation and cleanup. Notification to the family of the deceased has been made.
