Frankfort Rotary Club held its annual Clinton County High School Speech contest Thursday evening at Arborwood. Contestants Diana Garcia, Logan McDonald and Breton Posey each wrote an original 5 to 7 minute speech on the topic “Serve to Change Lives”. Their speech was to be designed as a persuasive message based on the student’s interests, thoughts, audience appeal and research related to the topic.
The speech contest is an annual event for the Frankfort Rotary Club. Myron Chezem has coordinated the Frankfort Rotary Speech Contest for 26 years.
The contest winner will have to option to advance to Anderson Indiana for the District Contest held on April 3rd at the Anderson Country Club. The winner there will be awarded $1,000 for first place, $750 second place and $250 for third place.

Brevon Posey won first place, Logan McDonald second place and Diana Garcia third place. All three contestants won $75.00 each. This is about $12.50 per minute for the 5-7 minute talk. Not bad for the opportunity to learn, practice and sharpen communication skills and take a shot at representing Clinton County in the District competition.
A debriefing session from the judges for the three speakers followed the contest to give the speakers feedback on their performance and prepare them for future public speaking opportunities.
