Three Juveniles Apprehended for Theft in Whitestown

At approximately 2:40 p.m.m Sunday, Whitestown Metropolitan Police Officers were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at the AT&T Store located on Whitestown Parkway.

WMPD officers were informed that the suspects took multiple cellular phones from the store, and were headed eastbound in a blue sedan. WMPD officers located the vehicle, initiated a traffic stop, removed all occupants and detained them for questioning. Further reports then came in that three males were running shirtless northbound at several locations, heading towards the Zionsville Soccer Fields.

WMPD, Zionsville Police Department, and Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the Zionsville Soccer Fields, began evacuating civilians who were attending games, then located and detained three juvenile males who fit the description of the suspects trying to leave the fields and evade police. The driver of the vehicle and the juvenile female passenger were released from police custody, and the three male juvenile suspects were kept in custody by WMPD officers, until they were later released into the custody of Delaware County Juvenile Detention.

The stolen merchandise and a firearm were also later located by police. Due to a continuing investigation and the involvement of juveniles, suspect information and charges are not being released at this time.
