Thursday Thunder and “Eyes of Freedom” Tribute Kick Off Holiday Weekend Today

Frankfort’s Independence Day celebration begins today with two free community events as the city kicks off its Fourth of July weekend and America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

Thursday Thunder will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Veterans Park in downtown Frankfort. The event will feature a car show, live music, food vendors, and a variety of local vendors.

Also opening today is the “Eyes of Freedom” military tribute, which will be on display from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Encompass Event Center in Prairie Creek Park. The exhibit honors the service and sacrifice of American military members and will remain open through Sunday.

Both events are free and open to the public and mark the beginning of a weekend of patriotic festivities in Frankfort.
