Lebanon Tigers Show Up Big With Two Silver Medals At Big Orange Invitational; One New Record Broken

The Lebanon Tigers track and field team celebrates another successful tournament in the beginning of the spring season with yet another school record broken for Lebanon.

The Tigers traveled to Hamilton Heights on Saturday, April 13 to compete in the Big Orange Invitational, which saw 10 teams vie for the win. The Tigers saw numerous personal records being set with the team ultimately securing the runner-up trophy for both teams alongside a record-breaking performance from a team member who has already taken center stage once this year.

For the girls’ team, Hamilton Heights secured the first-place finish with a score of 130, Lebanon secured second with 90 points, Western grabbed third with 89 points, Maconaquah placed fourth with 68.5 points, Eastern garnered 63 points for a fifth-place finish, Northwestern narrowly missed out on a top-five slot with 58 points, Lewis Cass secured seventh place with 50 points, Western Boone saddled up in eighth place with 43 points, Tipton took ahold of ninth place with 18.5 points, and Guerin Catholic rounded out the tournament in tenth place with 10 points.

During the tournament, Ciarra Hiatt shattered her own record during the tournament, which she set earlier this year after breaking her record from last year. Hiatt jumped 9′ 9″ to secure victory and break her previous record of 9′ 6″ in the pole vault.

The Tigers boys’ team saw a second place finish as well, missing out on the gold medal due to an outstanding performance from Maconaquah.

Maconaquah secure first place with a score of 138, Lebanon secured second with 114 points, Hamilton Heights grabbed third with a score of 95.5, Lewis Cass placed fourth with 53 points, Tipton garned 52 points for a fifth-place finish, Northwestern narrowly missed out on a top-five spot with 49 points, Western secured seventh place with 43 points, Eastern garnered 30 points for eighth place, Western Boone placed ninth with 25 points, and Guerin Catholic rounded out the tournament in tenth place with 24.5 points, narrowly missing the ninth-place spot.
