Inside INdiana Business is reporting that driving across northern Indiana is about to get more expensive, and not just because of steep fuel prices. The operator of the Indiana Toll Road has announced a rate hike of more than 9%, effective July 1.
ITR Concessions Co. LLC, which manages the highway, can raise tolls because of its lease agreement with the state.
Starting in July, a trip on I-90 from the Ohio state line to the Chicago Skyway will cost $13.50 for a typical two-axle passenger vehicle, a 9.9% increase.
Class 7 vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, will pay $158.83 for the cross-state route.
Tolls vary according to vehicle class and distance travelled.
